Background
Every year, the back-to-school season for college freshmen is a critical time for Dcard to attract new users. This project aims to leverage important academic events such as university entrance exams, admission notifications, and the beginning of the academic year. It seeks to tap into the strong demand for discussions among college freshmen during these times. This will be achieved through a series of activities, including psychological assessments, coming-of-age ceremonies, and finding study buddies. The goal is to raise awareness about Dcard among more new students, encourage them to download the app, and actively participate in discussions.
Challenge
Getting users to complete the entire process of downloading the Dcard app, registering, and going through the identity verification is a significant challenge, especially for new students.
Goal
- Promoting Dcard Events through Personality Quiz Result Sharing
- The personality quiz is hosted on the Dcard website and is promoted through official Dcard communities and within the app.
- Personalized result images are designed to motivate new students to participate in the quiz.
- Incentivizing New Students to Download the Dcard App
- Offering a special packaged beer for the coming-of-age ceremony as an incentive for users to download the app.
- Conducting a "Find a Study Buddy" event to encourage university freshmen to verify their identities and become advanced users.

User Journey
Tracking the User Journey from the Event Website to Entering the Dcard App:
Personality Quiz Activity:
- Users need to register an account to participate.
→ Solution: Provide third-party quick logins and consider lowering registration thresholds as needed.
Sharing Quiz Results:
- Users find it difficult to share the results, as the sharing process has high thresholds, the results don't meet expectations, and they lack personalization.
→ Solution: Provide correct sharing dimensions, enable quick link copying, offer custom sharing graphics, and personalize quiz results.
App Download and Login:
- Users need to download the Dcard app and log in to access content. However, they may be hesitant to do so.
→ Solution: Offer incentives like gifts and participation in the "Find a Study Buddy" event.
Browsing:
- While users can browse Dcard, many interactive features require identity verification, leading to repetitive verification prompts.
→ Solution: Create a "New Student Season" board where new students can interact with upperclassmen without the need for login.
Identity Verification:
- The verification process requires manual review, which results in a waiting period.
→ Solution: Continuously optimize the verification process and increase verification personnel.
By addressing these user pain points, the project aims to provide a more user-friendly experience during the new student season and encourage a smooth transition from event participation to using the Dcard app.
Flow
The psychological quiz in this project was implemented on highly accessible platforms, including PC, mobile, and web. It utilized incentives like the "Find a Study Buddy" event to encourage new students to download the Dcard app.
Mockup
The user journey for the psychological quiz is as follows:
- Entrance: Users start at the entrance point.
- Login: They proceed to log in or create an account.
- Quiz: Users then take the psychological quiz.
- Loading: There is a loading screen while the quiz is being processed.
- Result Page: Finally, users arrive at the result page to view their quiz outcomes.
The result page is generally divided into 3 sections:
- Test Result
- Share to win beer, download Dcard Study Buddy → Click to download the App
- Communicate the value of Dcard Forum → Click to download the App
After downloading the Dcard app and logging in, the following steps are taken:
- The entrance to the "Find a Study Buddy" activity is placed in the first position so that new students can verify themselves immediately.
- When a new student is assigned a study buddy card, they are notified through animation.
Personalized test results:
- Different character illustrations are applied based on the user's biological gender.
- Each person will have different outcomes, such as becoming more attractive, less attractive, or having different chances of encountering flowers.
- The test-taker's name is incorporated into the results.
